Kenechukwu Akametalu
Hello my name is Kenechukwu “Kenny” Akametalu and I am a 3rd year electrical engineering major here at UCSB. UCSB has truly been a wonderful experience, allowing me to excel both academically and socially. I have done multiple research projects, been on the Dean's List every quarter, and received scholarships. Last Winter I was inducted into Tau Beta Pi, and I am currently the co-chair for the National Society of Black Engineers UCSB Chapter. If you are willing to put in the work and you are not scared to talk to people then the opportunities here are boundless. This past summer I participated in the Center of Energy Efficient Materials (CEEM) Undergraduate Internship. I worked in the Mishra Lab under my graduate student mentor, Matthew Laurent. The project focused on the effects of solar flux concentration on the performance of InGaN solar cells. The research was quite challenging, but in hindsight it was also rewarding. I am not quite sure where my journey will lead me after UCSB, but I hope after taking a few upper division classes I will have a better idea of where I would like to end up. For now I will just continue to work hard and keep faith. Now that you know a little about me, I would like to hear a little about you.
